Best Digital Camera for Kids 2011
Nobody does baby and toddler toys better that Vtech and their highly popular Kidizoom cameras are no exception. While the Vtech Kidizoom has lots of fun features, more on them shortly, the fact is that Vtech have taken a very simple premise, a camera for children, and worked their colourful, practical and hard wearing magic on it. This kid’s digital camera is suitable for kids as young as three, although at that age holding the camera and just taking a photo of the cat’s tail can be considered an achievement. Certainly from 4 onwards they shouldn’t have any problem using the camera or it’s editing, zooming and games features.
The aim here is to let your children discover the fun and creativity of taking photos without them having to learn on your expensive equipment. Furthermore, although children seem to be able to operate sophisticated equipment, like your iPhone or pc, at a younger and younger age at heart they still want to play with a toy that suits them. Spin and Smile Vtech Kidizoom Camera
The latest Vtech Kidizoom camera is called the Spin and Smile, or Kidizoom Twist, thanks to its lens that can be spun or twisted 180 degrees allowing for easy self portraits. Photos can be edited and decorated with various effects all though the small but clear screen on the rear of the camera; this is also the screen they use to see themselves when taking a self portrait. There are 4 games to play and the camera can also operate as a mini video recorder; with 256mb of memory the camera can store plenty of photos or videos but there’s also the facility to add an external memory card if you really want to go to town.
All videos and photos can be easily uploaded to your computer using the usb cable and further editing can be done on the VTech downloadable editing software. The camera itself is only 2.0 megapixels so don’t go expecting exceptional photo quality, but this is quite sufficient for a young child and a big step up from previous versions of the Kidizoom. If and when they show a real aptitude and love of photography then you can think of upgrading to more sophisticated photographic equipment. All in all another great young child or toddler toy from Vtech and one that makes it on to our top 20 Christmas toys list.
