Nerf Hyperfire Review

The Hyperfire is available either as a single blaster or in two player sets.  Both come with protective Vision Gear glasses and 10 Tagger micro darts with scoring vests available separately.

The Nerf Hyperfire is an awesomely formidable looking revolver, and the blaster backs up its looks with a firing range of between thirty and thirty five feet.  The Hyperfire fires off two darts every second and can hold ten darts at a time using a direct plunger system.   Unlike some of the Nerf guns of this size and capacity the Hyperfire is very accurate.

While the product comes with Tagger micro darts, improved performance has been noted by using Whistler darts in the blaster—this minimizes a tendency that some of the Hyperfires have of the darts popping out of the barrel.  The Nerf Hyperfire is very reliable and jams rarely.

For even more Nerf warfare power, the Strikefire blaster can be mounted on top of the Hyperfire.   The size of the tactical rail makes mounting some tactical rail accessories problematic, a relatively minor consideration given the overall performance of blaster.

Hyperfire Reloading

Another great feature of this toy gun for boys is the ability to reload even when the weapon is already cocked; this allows for better on the run reloads unlike some Nerf models which require gaining a break in the action and a safe spot to reload properly.

Nerf Hyperfire for Older Players

The gun is manual, and cocking can present problems with younger players (even using it two handed), but the rotating barrel auto advance is a great feature.  Users do have to cock the weapon each time, but the cocking action is straightforward and easy for older players.

Modders have reported being able to get an additional ten feet of flying distance out of the gun and its darts by “removing the tabs that go inside the darts in the barrel”.  Your mileage, however, may vary.

Cleo de Nile is original royalty and never lets a soul at Monster High forget it.  She’s often arrogant and bossy—but she can’t help it, the Pharaoh’s daughter has been raised to be that way!  Down deep she’s kind and a good ghoulfriend to her buds.  She’s a brainy beauty as well—with a love of geometry (hey, where else do you get to study pyramids?) and utterly bored with her history class (well, she’s lived it all—so what can it teach her?)  She’s head “fear leader” on the MH pep squad and has been keeping company with Deuce Gorgon.  Her GFFs are Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf, Ghoulia Yelps, Deuce (‘natch!), Draculaura and Lagoona Blue.

Different versions of the Cleo de Nile Doll

There are five different variations of Monster High Cleo de Nile – all of them featuring the doll with super clever detailing to tell embelish her character’s story. Here’s the Tommy’s Toys breakdown of the best Cleo de Nile dolls.

Standard Cleo de Nile

Unlike the other early introductory releases, this Monster High Cleo didn’t come with a pet.  Instead her accessories included her Monster High Diary, hair brush and a school portfolio notebook with MH logo and in gold, teal and black. Cleo de Nile herself rocks like an Egyptian in a two toned teal tank-top that has a “mummy wrap” design. She’s got a sparkly miniskirt, black hose, colorful mummy wrap designed leg and arm warmers, a purse decorated with the Udjat eye, a gold  belt, and headdress befitting  a royal mummy.  Her black hair is straight and hangs nearly to her waist.

Dead Tired Cleo de Nile

Dead Tired Cleo de Nile is prettily poised for eternal rest in a two piece pajama set in yellow, teal and white with her trademark mummy wrap design (rumor has it that she must wear wrappings to keep herself together—literally!).   Her teal colored fuzzy slippers reflect her royal standing by having crowns on their wee monster heads. She’s got a matching sleep mask, comes with the ever present hairbrush and a pyramid shaped nightlight–this ghoul’s got a HUGE (and somewhat embarrassing for a monster) secret—she’s terrified of the dark!

Gloom Beach Cleo de Nile

Gloom Beach Cleo de Nile is ready for a day with her best ghoulfriends.  Stepping out in style, the regal Cleo de Nile wears a one piece cut out bathing suit on a mummy wrap theme in black and yellow.  Her teal beach cover up is wrapped snugly at her hips. Her sunglasses match the wrap.  Cleo kicks her high heeled teal sandals; rocks one leg warmer and a wrist cuff that echo her teeny bikini.  Her bling is limited to pyramid shaped earrings.  She waves a palm frond design gold fan with an Egyptian flair.  Her normally jet black  hair is streaked with glittery gold strands and she wears alluring lipstick in a teal tone. She comes with a hair brush and a Gloom Beach postcard that pictures Her Highness soaking up the rays.

Dawn of the Dance Cleo de Nile

Dawn of the Dance Cleo de Nile finds our favourite Pharaoh’s daughter ready to rock. Here Cleo has her black hair cut into  a shoulder length bob, the hair itself is shot through with glittery strands.  She’s decked out in a figure flattering  one sleeved sheath in yellow and turquoise (with her customary mummy wrap design).  The single arm of her dress ends in a cuff that wraps around her hand bandage like. Her legwarmer completes the mummy look except that it is gold lame to match her drawstring bag.   Her heels are shiny teal with a heel that ends in a tiny pyramid.  Her bling consists of a gold cuff on her bare arm and golden choker necklace. She’s got her iCoffin belting out her favourite golden oldies (from the original age of rock—5000 years ago!).

This giftset pairs Her Royal Highness with her heartthrob and fellow student of ancient ancestry, Deuce Gorgon. Here both dolls are accompanied by their loyal pets  Cleo’s is Hissette (an Egyptian cobra of course!) with a hiss that is reportedly worse than her deadly  bite!  Deuce has his two tailed rat, Perseus at his side. Both dolls are funkily attired for a typically freaky day at school.

Cleo’s one piece, Capri length bodysuit  is rocking the mummy wrap look in a yellow, white and black–it looks as ancient as she is!  She has a matching neck choker, an arm warmer and her funky yellow shoes also mimic wrappings.  She wears a sheer turquoise cover-up, trimmed in black. She’s got gold bling in the form of long, dangly earrings, and an arm cuff. She’s got a gold smart phone strapped to her thigh  and carries a gold purse.  Deuce is sportin’ in black chinos with a scaly design that matches his arm tattoos (or are they real? Deuce is the son of Medusa after all!).

Deuce is wearing a  red sleeveless muscle shirt with a Monster High motif topped by a grey and white vest.  His deck shoes have a black and white checkerboard design. He’s got a silver chain necklace and another chain hanging off his belt.  His green scaly head (with snaky topknot) is a cool resting spot for his red and black sunglasses. Nerf Hornet Review

The Nerf Hornet was released in what is termed the Unity Power System with two other blaster models (the Titan and the Scout IX-3), and originally featured a red grey and orange color scheme.  It was later released in two other color configurations, blue, grey and orange and in the Incredible Hulk movie tie in edition, green grey and orange.

This blaster is BIG!  Measuring 1 ft four inches and it weights 2.2 pounds. It debuted at a MSRP of $19.99.

Nerf Hornet Range

The air pump action on full automatic mode is capable of shooting six microdarts up to a radical  fifty feet, either all at once or singly.  In semi-auto mode the range falls to around 30 feet.  It can take a bit of practice learning how to fire the gun at a target, in single dart mode the  projectiles come out of a different port each time, but firing all darts at the same time make it possible to hit a target more solidly, even multiple targets with a little practice!

The Hornet is air powered and so should not jam, but users have reported that it can develop air leaks in the barrels with will greatly reduce the effective range of the blaster, down to less than 10 feet. A faulty air tank will also cause a lack of power.  If a new Nerf gun shoots this poorly out of the box, chances are it is defective and should be returned  per retailer policy for an exchange or refund.

Reloading has been identified as a problem as well, with the darts having a tendency to fall out during pumping unless they are firmly pressed back into the barrels after the gun has been fully primed.  The air pump takes about 15 pumps to be fully operational.

Nerf Hornet Modification

The Hornet has the capability to be snapped together with the N-Strike Titan model and fired by it.

Bottom line is that the Hornet is a good blaster, but not one of the greatest in the Nerf line-up.

Monster High dolls are the latest “gotta have” toy for the female preteen set.  Imaginatively designed, highly detailed and fully articulated, these dolls fly off the shelves at local toy and department stores. A welcome antidote to the usual fashion dolls, these characters are based on the concept that the original famous monster of book and screen fame had families and that their now teenage children attend a special high school.

Lagoona Blue Review

Lagoona Blue is the 15 year old daughter of the Sea Monster. She’s noted for having a very laid back personality but can be a fierce as any of her fellow monsters about things she’s passionate about—like friendship. Normally very calm and even tempered, Lagoona is also a dedicated environmentalist; she is outraged by ocean pollution and sympathetic to aquatic creatures. She has an on-again-off-again relationship with Gil Webber who is a fresh water sea monster offspring (his parents don’t approve of their son being involved with a salt water creature!).  Lagoona’s friends include Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Deuce Gorgon, Clawdeen Wolf, Cleo de Nile and Ghoulia Yelps.

Top Lagoona Blue Dolls

At the time of writing (april 2012) there are five different versions of Lagoona Blue, but due to the popularity of the brand it surely won’t be long before another version hits the market. Here is the Tommy’s Toys rundown of the best Lagoona Blue dolls.

Standard Lagoona Blue with pet piranha

This was the initial release of the Lagoona doll, and as with other introductory versions of Monster High students, she comes with a pet (a piranha called Neptuna), her Monster High Diary, hairbrush and doll stand.  Lagoona is HOT! Hands down this doll is the prettiest of the line; a blonde haired (with blue streaks from pool chlorine it is rumoured!)  beauty with sea green eyes and very light blue pearlescent skin. In this version she’s wearing black and turquoise daisy dukes, a fish scale patterned knit top, with a jersey jacket in black, aqua blue with inset scale patterned panels. She’s got a scarf on her head that matches the panels in her jacket, with a pretty pink orchid hair clip.  Her pet piranha comes in his own fish bowl with carry handle.

Skull Shores Lagoona Blue

Our gilled ghoul has gotta be the hostess of this scary seaside sojourn to Skull Shores. The original beach babe, Lagoona is ethereally beautiful in her two piece black bathing suit and turquoise, pink, white and black beach wrap. She’s wearing aqua blue strappy gel sandals and carries a tasty algae smoothie umbrella drink. She’s wearing a delicate headband with flower on her head.  She also comes with a map of Skull Shores, a hair brush and doll stand.

Dawn of the Dance Lagoona Blue

Dawn of the Dance Lagoona Blue is rarin’ to go and ready to rock out at the Monster High Dawn of the Dance party.  She’s wearing a figure flattering sheath dress made of two alternating shades of blue—light aqua and a darker Caribbean blue–with an asymmetrical pink sheer flounce at the hem. She’s the picture of delicate beauty with an ecru lace shawl wrap at her hips fastened with a seashell pin. For bling she’s got oversized pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet and a gold vine full arm wrap style bracelet on her left arm. Her kickin’ shoes are blue and pink to match her dress with bubble heels.  She’s got her iCoffin playing her favourite freaky, funkalicious tunes and carries a pink and white clamshell purse. She comes with a CD called “New Ghoul at School”, hairbrush, and doll stand.

Lagoona Blue Classroom Playset

Lagoona’s fave subject EVAR is Mad Science. She’s dressed for the lab in her white coat which covers up a pretty turquoise and black patterned mini-dress.  She’s got on blue, black and yellow high heels and is carrying a specimen jar with a three eyed green frog crawling out of it.  As with all the other classroom releases, Lagoona comes with an additional outfit (turquoise and blue capris with a patterned t-shirt in blue, black and pink); a shocking pink locker with working skull lock; Mad Science notebook and pen; a guide to Mad Science, hair brush and doll stand, as well as a sheet of stickers to trick out Lagoona’s locker with.

Water breather that she is, of course  the winsome Lagoona Blue sleeps in a hydration tank!  Her imaginatively designed “bed” has the look of an enclosed shower, with a pretty aqua blue backdrop with three bubble themed shelves. The hydration chamber has a curved reservoir in the front into which water can be poured giving an aquatic effect. Lights built into the chamber active at a tap of the walls and display a mesmerizing light show with three different effects. Accessories in the set include slippers, journal, hairbrush and get this (!):  her pet fish, Neptuna comes with her very own sleep mask!  Lagoona herself is outfitted in pajamas of pale blue, and a sleep mask with blue and white wavy stripes that matches Neptuna’s.  She’s all set for relaxation and rehydration after a ghouling week at school!

Nerf Spectre Review

The Nerf Spectre operates on the reverse plunger system which is generally disliked by the “garage modders” of the Nerf world.  The design on this pistol utilizes features of the Maverick REV-6 and the Recon CS-6. It is primarily a right handed gun, offering some obstacles for use by left handers, including a stock hinge on the right side and a revolving ammunition cylinder that flips out to the left.

With full stock attached Spectre Rev-5’s length is 29.3 inches x 6.3 inches, it weighs about 3 pounds with stock and fully loaded.  The Spectre also sports a tactical rail which attaches to the top of the gun and in no way impairs the firing of the weapon as the side mounted rail on the Maverick was prone to do.  The Spectre is the only Nerf gun with an attachable barrel that does not function on a clip system, making it unique.

The Spectre has an effective firing range of between thirty to forty feet with great accuracy reported up to thirty feet, using the Whistler darts the gun is packaged with insures greater firing accuracy.  The gun MUST be fully cocked in order for the darts to fire, and care must take in cocking the blaster, do it too fast and you can jam the gun.  Most jams reported with this weapon are due to user error, not the gun design.

Nerf Spectre Dart Capacity and Rate of Fire

The rate of fire on this Spectre toy gun is about 3 darts per second with the hand positioned on the slide and not the butt of the weapon.  The five dart capacity reduces the Nerf Spectre’s effectiveness as a primary weapon in combat, especially when competing models have a shot capacity of six darts or more.  For in-office work skirmishes however, the pistol is ideal!  The short trigger pull is smooth and nearly effortless unlike the Maverick—this is primarily due to the Spectre’s trigger not having to rotate the ammunition cylinder in order to fire.

Considered as an upgrade to the Maverick, which addresses some of the failings of that popular blaster, The Nerf Spectre performs as a more than adequate secondary weapon—if only the dart capacity had been increased it might have found its place as a great primary gun.

Nerf Deploy Review

The Nerf Deploy CS-6 uses a shotgun style pump action and darts are loaded into a clip system that is single fire and reverse plunger in operation. The Deploy is most remarkable for having two modes: Flashlight and Blaster. In Flashlight mode the built in flashlight allows for tracking the enemy through darkened rooms or the gloom of night, yet instantly transforms into full blaster mode at the touch of a button on its handle—hence the name “Deploy”. To return to flashlight mode is a bit trickier, the user must flip the flashlight/clip back and push on the shoulder handle, which will fold it back into the body of the blaster.

For reasons of safety, the flashlight is not very powerful—a deliberate design choice to prevent eye injuries in play participants. This reduces its effective visual range in the dark, but many users find modifying the blaster with a tactical light or pinpoint sight solves the problem.

The Deploy CS-6 comes with a carrying strap—making it somewhat unique in N-Strike history, a six dart capable clip and six “Streamline” darts. The Deploy will accept larger clip sizes, functioning best with a maximum 18 dart clip; it is prone to jam at the 35 dart capacity clip size. Jamming seems to be a common complaint among owners—but the problem is variable—many users report no jamming problems at all, while others complain of nothing but.

Nerf  Deploy Whiteout, Clear and Sonic

The Deploy came in four color schemes: Standard (yellow, black and orange); Clear (transparent orange); Sonic (transparent green and orange) and Whiteout (white and orange with black detailing and decals).

Users describe the Nerf Deploy as a decent “tactical” range Nerf weapon, meaning that it is most effective in the short to medium distance range. Forty foot firing ranges have been reported, but more commonly the usual firing range is between fifteen to thirty feet.

Given the ratings by users, these toy guns for boys may not be the best candidate for a primary weapon but work well as part of a tactical arsenal.

Nite Finder Review

The light requires two AA sized batteries to operate, but the Nerf gun itself is not battery powered. The lens on the light is removable and can be adjusted for varying firing ranges.  It will cast light on targets up to fifteen feet away and illuminate the shooter’s immediate environment.

The gun fires one dart at a time with two spares storable in compartments under the light.  The gun features a tactical rail on top of the weapon.

Nite Finder Accuracy and Range

The Nite Finder EX-3 is an extremely accurate weapon, truly remarkable for its size and firing mode in terms of accuracy and range.   The weapon is a favorite among modders for its simple design and potential for even greater power and range.  One drawback is that the rate of fire is slow (one dart every two seconds), and in an age when so many blasters are now capable of automatic or semi-automatic firing, a single shot blaster is a bit antiquated.

The Nite Finder comes with suction three darts and a practice target with stand. Whistler and suction end micro darts work well in this weapon but it has been reported that Streamline darts will not work in the gun unless it is modified.

This top toy gun is small and very inexpensive when compared to other Nerf blasters, it originally retailed for about ten dollars. The gun, during its long history has been available in a number of color combinations including:

Ghoulia Yelps Review

Monster High dolls are the creative antidote to the incessantly acquisitive Barbie line—Mattel owns both, but has broken from the mold of “fashion dolls” by introducing an imaginative line that posits that famous monsters had children and that somewhere these descendants of monster nobility attend a very special high school.  Monster High is a multimedia franchise, the toys are marketed by an animated series, internet webisodes, books, plush toys, kids costumes and tie-in accessories.  This product line has been a very lucrative one for Mattel and frustrated parents are often hard pressed to find the latest MH releases at local stores at reasonable prices.

Monster High Ghoulia Yelps is the daughter of the Zombie and his wife. She’s sixteen years old in monster years and considered to be the smartest ghoul in Monster High.  Unfortunately she can speak only zombie, a language made up of grunts and groans that her friends have learned to be able to communicate with her. She’s also slow moving which results in her often becoming stressed out and she is a bit shy.  She’s a bookworm, but also loves comic books.  Her friends include Draculara, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Deuce Gorgon and  Cleo de Nile.  Her special pet is a blue owl called “Sir Hoots-A-Lot”.

Ghoulia is characterized by her pale grey skin, pale blue eyes and light blue hair. She wears horn rimmed cat’s eye retro look glasses.  Being a zombie, facial expressions are a challenge for her and she often poses in awkward positions. Her eyes don’t blink in unison, but one at a time!

Original Ghoulia Yelps

The Ghoulia Yelps doll with Owl is the original version of the doll.  She wears a black, red and white striped off the shoulder long sleeved shirt covered over  by a cherry patterned camisole and red trim. She sports black fishnet fingerless gloves and a piano keyboard belt with a peace symbol buckle. She wears pants of orange corduroy with a black dot pattern.  Her shoes are high heeled, knee high boots styled after high tops with white toe and ankle detail and red laces. Her hair is held back with a green headband, she wears a necklace and zipper earrings. Her accessories include eyeglasses, cassette tape themed school bag, her pet Sir Hoots-A-Lot, an MH diary, hairbush and doll stand.

Ghoulia Yelps and Classroom playset

Keeping with the “classroom series” theme, Monster High Ghoulia is outfitted for her Physical Deaducation class.  She wears a raglan style black and red sleeved knit t-shirt with the Monster High school logo across the chest and black gym shorts (with red and white lightning bolt)over red knee length undershorts.  She wears high heeled ankle boots in black, red and white with lightning bolt décor and  carries a large black dodgeball with a skull logo.  She has an alternate outfit, a black, white and red spaghetti strap sundress accessorized by white rimmed sunglasses. Her hot pink locker has a red and black water bottle hanging off the door hook, a journal and pen, red hairbrush and stickers to decorate her locker with.

Dawn of the Dance Ghoulia Yelps

Dawn of the Dance Ghoulia Yelps is all dressed up for a dance party!  She’s wearing a billowy white sleeveless dress with an ombre effect to the skirt, white transitioning into a pale pink then into a darker pink near the kerchief hem. The dress is belted with a black and white belt with a skullette buckle. She is kickin’ metallic open toed heels in black and red. She’s sporting her favorite horn rimmed glasses, red earrings and choker style necklace. Her accessories include a black and red “iCoffin”, a red, white and black clutch style purse with a bone design, a yellow hairbrush and doll stand.

Dead Tired Ghoulia Yelps

Dead Tired Ghoulia Yelps is outfitted in a matching pajama set with a white shirt and pj bottoms decorated with a blood splatter design. The sleeves on the top are cap style, there is a red bow at the neck and black vertical contour lines down the front. She’s got on a black miniskirt over the pj bottoms, has a sleepmask in her head with the same bloodspatter design as her pajamas and has red slippers and eyeglasses.  Her accessories include a bag of red “Brain puffs” (zombies eat brains remember!), a red hairbrush and doll stand.  Her blue hair is pulled back into a pony tail.

Skull Shores Ghoulia Yelps

Skull Shores Ghoulia Yelps is ready for fun in the sun sporting  a black with green blood splatters patterned halter swimsuit. She’s covering up with a diaphanous see through swim skirt/wrap in salmon color with a brain pattern in white. Her strappy open toed heels are also salmon colored.  She is rocking out in green sunglasses, a red hairclip with a brain rosette design and mismatched earrings: a white brain with teethmarks and a wee red brain.  Her blue and white hair is cut short and worn in a retro flip style.  She holds a coconut shaped cup that contains a brain smoothie and comes with a map of Skull Shores as well as a green hairbrush and doll stand.

Monster High Frankie Stein Review

Frankie Stein is the daughter of the famous Frankenstein’s Monster and his Bride. Unlike her fellow classmates, Frankie wasn’t so much born as put together.  When introduced Frankie Stein was only 15 days old, although she has the physical appearance of a “ghoul” in her late teens.  As might be expected from one of such tender age she’s a bit naive and clueless when it comes to life. She’s polite, friendly and sweet natured, with a proclivity towards clumsiness. Her best friends are Draculara, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Deuce Gorgon, Cleo de Nile and Ghoulia Yelps.

Monster High Frankie’s skin is a light mint green and she has lines of stitching all over her, indicating how she was put together from different body parts. Like dear old dad she has bolts protruding from her neck through which she receives electricity to power her body.  Her eyes are mismatched, one green and the other blue, likely because they came from two different donors! Her hair is long and black with streaks of white.

At the moment there are currently six different versions of Frankie Stein in the Monster High range.

Original Frankie Stein

The original and best Frankie Stein doll was outfitted in a black and green plaid dress with a white collar and puffy sleeves.  Her pet is Watzit, a dog that her dad put together from various dog parts. She rocks a black tie and her bling includes a silver tiepin, blue earrings, and blue and silver bracelets.  Her shoes are strappy black and white high heels. She carries a red and black purse, and comes with a brush, an MH diary and a doll stand.

Dead Tired Frankie Stein

Dead Tired Frankie Stein is ready for bed or maybe a slumber party. She’s dressed in a white pj tank top with a blue lightning bolt design and blue piping. Her pj bottoms are black and white striped with blue lightning bolts. Her sleepmask matches her pajama bottoms; she has fuzzy blue slippers on her feet and silver neckbolts. She was accessorized with an “iCoffin” docking station, a blue hairbrush and a doll stand.

Gloom Beach Frankie Stein is ready to join her fellow ghouls for a day of fun at Gloom Beach. She wears a one piece bathing suit with blue and yellow stripes and a black and yellow lightning bolt design. She has a plaid beach wrap around her waist, sports black sandals with yellow straps, rocks blue sunglasses and a blue lightning bolt hairclip. Her large beach bag is shaped like a battery; her accessories include postcard, a hair brush and doll stand.

Skull Shores Black & White Frankie Stein

This version of Monster High Frankie Stein is crucial for the true collector – the limited edition Black & White range of dolls were styled entirely in greyscale: the doll, outfit and packaging is all in black, white or grey! In this Skull Shores version Frankie Stein has had a cute makeover – with her usually long hair now cut into a sleek bob to keep her super cool on the beach.  She is wearing a black and white patterened two-piece monokini halter neck swimsuit with matching wrap, and strappy sandals.

Dawn of the Dance Frankie Stein

Dawn of the Dance Frankie Stein finds her outfitted for a dance party. Frankie is stylin’ in a black and white zigzag patterned mini-dress and a hot pink bolero style jacket with puffy sleeves. Her belt is blue with white strings. She wears pink fishnet hose and mirror image shoes—one is grey with a black sole, the other black with a grey sole. She boasts blue lightning bolt earrings and she carries a patchwork purse. Her accessories include a blue “iCoffin”, a pink hairbrush and pink doll stand.

Sweet 1600 Frankie Stein

Sweet 1600 Frankie Stein is all ghouled up for her best friend Draculaura’s 1600th birthday.  She’s totally rocking a blue and black plaid dress lined in white and red. The overskirt is plaid, the underskirt blue. The dress bodice is a one sleeved, half plaid and half black. Her shoes are black and blue with pronounced stitching. She sports black thread earrings and black bracelets, carries a silver lightning bolt purse. She brings a gift for Draculara: a pink, black and white dress. Accessories include a coffin shaped invitation, hairbrush, black doll stand and a full sized blue skeleton key.

Frankie Stein Classroom playset

Frankie Stein in her classroom playset is up to her neckbolts in her Home Ick project in this release. She wears her hair down with straight cut bangs and is dressed in a long blue and white t-shirt, covered by a plaid apron in black and white plaid with blue ruffles. Her hose is black and white plaid with red detailing. Her shoes are white with silver at the toes, high black heels and blue soles. She wears chain earrings with scissors dangling, a skull pincushion on one wrist, a bracelet on the other and a ring on her finger. She comes with an extra dress with a black bodice and a blue and white patterned skirt. Her accessories include a hot pink locker with a skull lock a spool of blue thread, a Home Ick journal with pen, her pet Watzit and stickers.

Classrooms Frankie Stein

Not to be confused with the above playset version, this is the simpler Frankie Stein from the Classrooms edition of Monster High dolls.  Here Frankie is dressed in a light blue, white and red plaid dress, a cool silver waistcoat with red detailing over the top, black leggings with diamond stitching detail and a pair of black and silver baseball style platform shoes. Her hair is snazily styled into a side bunch, and she has simply wicked black lightening bolt earrings. She comes with a doll stand (like all MH dolls), a brush and a keychain with a plastic charm version of Watzit hung on a Skullette shaped plastic ring.

Nerf Raider Review

To slam fire this toy gun load it and hold the trigger down, the weapon is then repeatedly primed and with each cocking of the blaster your darts will fly out.

The Nerf N-Strike Raider is particularly distinctive for its drum clip with its 35 dart capacity and an additional 36^th dart stored in the handle, upping the total to 36.   Streamline darts are standard issue on this model which uses a reverse plunger system.  The Nerf Raider can jam but has an added built in feature of a jam door that allows for clearing of the barrel.

Nerf Raider Range, Accuracy and Rate of Fire

Slam firing yields the greatest firing range, averaging 25 to 35 feet; when not slam fired the Raider averages 20-30 feet. Accuracy is somewhat problematic, due for the most part to the performance of the Streamline darts themselves, although the drum, attached as it is to the side of the weapon complicates accuracy for the uninitiated. Repeat practice with slam firing should improve accuracy overall however. The rate of fire on the Nerf Raider CS-35 is excellent, averaging about 3-4 darts per second.

Nerf Raider Bonus Packs

Bonus packs were made available for the Raider CS-35 toy gun, one of which offered a “double your darts” value pack of 70 darts, another with 100 darts.  A version of the weapon with a flip clip instead of a drum was also released. A third bonus bundle included two drums, a carrying strap and 100 darts was also available at one point.   The standard package came with blaster, drum magazine, 35 darts, tactical rail and shoulder stock.

Nerf Raider Mods

While modders are not fond of the Raider’s reverse plunger system in general, there have been modification packages made available for this Nerf blaster model. A popular modification for the Raider replaced the shipped spring with a stronger version and polycarbonate replacement parts.  Firing ranges of up to 50 feet have been reported with modifications to the weapon.
