The Fur Real Friends Cookie puppy is the latest in a long line of mechanical FurReal cuddly toy animals. As technology improves these great toys become more and more realistic. There’s still some way to go before we can do away with pets all together (joke!) but this FurReal Cookie puppy is pretty well made and makes a useful substitute for the real thing.
Well the FurReal Friends Cookie puppy has caused quite a stir in Tommy’s house. Tommy wanted to include Cookie in his top 10 Christmas toys list but Mrs Tommy put her foot down. Apparently all the FurReal Friends are ghastly, pointless and a waste of money! Wow, strong words and views. I didn’t realise a mechanical cuddly toy could inspire such strong feelings. Well I’ve been banned from putting FurReal Friends Cookie in my Christmas toys list but I’m still going to give the rest of you, who don’t hate robotic pets, my FurReal Cookie review.
FurReal Cookie My Playful Pup Review
I think the thing to remember about the FurReal pets is that they work really well for a very specific age group. If you’re looking for a toy for a girl aged between 3 and 6, possibly 7, then the FurReal Cookie puppy is, in my opinion, perfect. After all it’s essentially a cuddly plush toy that moves and makes noises. Why wouldn’t a small girl love that? Furthermore, mechanical pets have been around for quite a while now (remember those annoying flipping dogs?) and I think credit is due to Hasbro for producing a cute toy that does a lot of the things that a small girl wants from a puppy.
FurReal Cookie has touch and sound sensors that make it behave in a more realistic way. Talk to Cookie or squeeze his squeaky toy bone and he will turn to you and make puppy noises. Stroke him or tickle his neck and there’s more adorable noises and tail wagging, and of course the obligatory barking. Cookie also makes gnawing and slobbering noises when you put his bone (or indeed your hand) in his mouth. All in all Cookie is pretty active although he doesn’t move around as such.
Hasbro would have you believe that FurReal Cookie is a decent replacement for a real life puppy…it’s not. However it is a great substitute for a young girl who isn’t allowed a real life puppy! I’m currently trying to persuade some friends not to get a puppy. Not because dogs aren’t great, but simply because they do take a lot of looking after and have to be taken as a serious addition to your family. Choosing the right time in your lives to get a pet is crucial and getting a dog when young children are desperate for one is generally not the right time.
The FurReal Cookie puppy is a super soft, very cute interactive toy that your little girl can squeeze to her heart’s content and that strikes Tommy as a pretty great toy for Christmas…so there!
