I’ve always loved and understood the attraction of Monopoly even though as a young child I found it very frustrating, it’s amazing how competitive adults can be isn’t it!? However the original board game, while a classic, can be a little dry for the younger players. Which piece you chose was always more important than those boring street names. So what better to engage your younger players this Christmas, and let’s remember Christmas is for them not you, then a Hello Kitty Monopoly game set!? Hello Kitty Monopoly Boardgame Review
Of course there are many different versions of Monoploy on the market these days but I do feel that this Hello Kitty Monopoly version really is so much more seductive for kids and teens and as the adults are more interested in the game play itself I think it’s a real winner for all the family.
The trick when playing this game with younger players ,and keeping their attention, is to make them care about the property they are buying and they will be much more enthralled at the idea of owning the “playground” then they will by owning Regents Street!
If there’s one thing I question it’s the redesign of the playing pieces. Kids have always enjoyed being the dog or the racing car and if you’re going to change these iconic pieces for something Hello Kitty themed then I think it should have been for little miniatures of the characters rather than the rather ambiguous pieces they have chose which incude some apples, a bow and a handbag. To be honest though, the customized board more than makes up for this small shortcoming. I particularly like the way that instead of paying “income tax” as a penalty you are actually “Buying gifts for friends”!
The very positive reviews for this Hello Kitty toy version of monopoly back up my opinion of this game. Great to add to your collection of all things Hello Kitty and a great way to introduce your kids to this classic dice game.
