Nobody does cool movie toys like Lego! Star Wars, Harry Potter and now Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. If you have a child who loves Lego (who doesn’t) and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies then this range of Lego sets is going to drive them crazy. And surely the jewel in the crown is the immense Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl.
We have just published our top Christmas toys for Christmas 2011 article and Tommy had to choose his favourite Lego set to go in that list. Man that was a hard decision! In the end I chose the Lego Millennium Falcon but I was really torn between that, the Lego Ninjago Fire Temple and this amazing Lego Black Pearl.
Lego Black Pearl 4184 Review
It’s just the sheer size of this Lego set that I love. This is no fiddly ship in a bottle type toy! The Lego Black Pearl is almost 2 (that’s TWO) feet long and over 20 inches high, so the first question you need to ask is has your child actually got enough room in his bedroom to play with this!? Truthfully the Lego Queen Anne’s Revenge is even larger than the Lego Black Pearl but the Black Pearl is just way cooler…I’m sorry but it is.
When does the Lego Black Pearl come out?
It’s out! The Lego Black Pearl 2011 is Lego set 4148 and you can buy it on Amazon (click for more info at the top of the page). It comes with six mini figures from the films, Jack Sparrow (of course), Will Turner and Joshamee Gibbs make up the goodies who do battle with Davy Jones, Maccus and Bootstrap Bill.
Lego Black Pearl Instructions
With 810 pieces this Lego sets looks daunting but the Lego instructions are clearly laid out and easy to follow. The Lego Black Pearl is very moody with all its black and dark brown pieces. The huge black sails look great and the ability to easily get into the Captains room at the back (complete with treasure map) is a nice feature. There are cannons to fire, plenty of weapons for battles on deck and the Jolly Roger to affix from the mast. It’s all Tommy’s Toys can do to stop himself screaming “Pieces of Eight”!
