Everyone knows that LEGO bricks rock, so get your toddler started on them early to ensure a life long love affair with creative construction! The LEGO Duplo Basic Bricks is an 80-piece pack of sturdy and safe bricks in different colors and sizes perfect for toddlers and kids aged 18 months to 5 years.
Here at Tommy’s Toys we just love everything about LEGO! More than anything we love all the things that the brand stands for – imagination, creativity, fun, learning, caring and quality – and we especially love this description of fun that we found on their website:
“Fun is the happiness we experience when we are fully engaged in something that requires mastery, when our abilities are in balance with the challenge at hand and we are making progress towards a goal. Fun is both in the process, and in the completion.”
For me ultimately, this encompasses what the LEGO Duplo Basic Bricks will bring to your toddlers development. The Duplo sub-brand has been specifically designed to be extra chunky, perfect toys for toddlers to grasp and connect together, fine-tuning their motor skills and exercising their imagination at the same time.
Lego Duplo Basic Bricks 80 pcs
The LEGO Duplo Basic Bricks has 80 pieces in all – in different shapes and colors – and seeing as LEGO says that there are “900 million different ways of combining six eight-stud bricks of the same colour”, there’s clearly an endless amount of fun to be had!
If I had to give you a negative, I’d say that it’s a shame that there isn’t a Building Plate included in this Lego set as I personally love making LEGO houses and the building plates are the perfect base for them, but that’s not really a big negative and your toddler can still build awesome LEGO towers with all those bricks.
Lego Duplo Basic Bricks Size
Indeed building towers and then smashing them down will, no doubt, be a high priority for your toddler- and that’s just fine as LEGO bricks are more than sturdy enough to take any amount of bashing! And another cool thing is that, because the LEGO Duplo pieces are quite chunky (unlike regular LEGO bricks) they don’t present a choking hazard. However, please note that play with small parts should always be supervised!
So, nothing else to say here really – the LEGO Duplo Basic Bricks is the perfect LEGO starter pack, and retailing at around $20, a very good investment that will last years!
