Ninjago Cole – Leader of our Intrepid Ninjas!
Ninjago Cole is, quite literally, the bedrock of our intrepid heroes. He is strong, calm, a good friend and a true leader. With these qualities it’s unsurprising that he is the elemental black ninja of earth. He takes a leading role in both the original 2011 Ninjago story and the new 2012 follow on plot and his weapons of choice are the staff and golden scythe. Like the other ninjas, Ninjago Kai, Jay and Zane, Cole comes in three different versions which can either be bought separately or as part of a Ninjago Lego set. There are also some stand alone Ninjago Cole toys available, let’s take a look at the options.
The Original Lego Cole 2112
The Ninjago sets and characters were first released at the start of 2011 and this is the first version of Lego Ninjago Cole that you can buy on its own. Lego Cole 2112 is a spinner set which means you can attach Cole to a base spinner and then play the Lego Spinjitzu battle top type game. As well as the spinner the pack includes Cole’s character card and four battle cards and three weapons; a golden staff, a black sword and a hammer. As this is Cole in his original form this toy is a little more expensive than the other single versions but worth it if you’re buying him to complete a collection. Check Prices
Ninjago Cole DX 2170
The next version is Cole DX 2170 and was released at the end of March 2011. There’s not a great deal of difference from his original incarnation. He now has a gold dragon on his outfit and a gold and red spinner. His golden weapon is now a scythe and he also has a spear and a silver katana sword. Character card and four battle cards included. Ninjago Cole ZX in the Spinjitzu Starter Set 9579
If you know a Ninjago fan who is in love with the new 2012 Ninjago sets and characters and enjoys the Lego spinner game Spinjitzu then this Starter Set 9579 is a great way to get hold of the new look Ninjago Cole ZX. The set includes Cole ZX and a Serpentine foe, Rattla and both have cool bright colored spinners and some very dangerous looking weapons. Cole’s third new look has him with some nifty silver armour and straps across his back which you can attach weapons to. A good value for money set at around $25. Check Prices
Ninjago Kendo Cole 9551
And finally we have Kendo Cole, replete in his Kendo armour. There’s no spinner included in this booster pack, the idea is that you already have a Ninjago Cole spinner and this is an extra pack with new weapons and Battle cards. There are plenty of fun new weapons including 3 chains to attach to a spinner, a staff and a double headed trident. The gold weapon is some kind of crazy, scary mace affair. And of course Cole looks cool in his Kendo armour. Check Prices
Original Lego Cole and Ninjago Cole DX included in 2011 Ninjago Lego Sets
While getting Ninjago Cole on his own is great for collectors, and those who love the Spinjitzu spinner game, Tommy would recommend looking to get Cole as a minifgure included in one of the fantastic Ninjago lego sets. Let’s take a look at the sets from 2011.
Cole and the Turbo Shredder 2263
One in comes to awesome vehicles in Ninjago 2011 it’s the villains who win hands down. Take a look at the Turbo Shredder, that’s one scary tractor. With the skeleton foe Frakjaw at the controls Ninjago Cole along with the blue ninja of lightening, Jay, will have to fight smart to avoid being mowed down or chomped by the Shredders massive snapping jaws. Defeat the forces of darkness and reclaim the Golden Scythe. A great way to get an amazing vehicle and three mini figures including Cole. Check Prices
Ninjago Cole and his Ninja Training Outpost 2516
Before their main adventures began the 4 ninjas were taken into the mountains, by their mentor Sensei Wu, to be trained in the art of Spinjitzu and other martial arts. Lego brought out a number of mountain training locations including this Ninja Training Outpost featuring Ninjago Cole. It’s a cool little set and offers a great value for money way to get Cole at a low price AND with a Lego set. The set includes a weapons rack and an archery target so that Cole can practise bow. A spear and sword are also included along with a scorpion which, apparently can be trained to help the ninjas! Check Prices
Ninjago Cole DX in the Ninja Battle Arena 2520
So you didn’t think the Ninja Training Outpost or Spinjitzu Starter Set were that impressive huh? I guess you’ll be needing Ninjago Cole in the Ninja Battle Arena then. A training location and Spinjitzu arena on steroids! There are weapon racks, training machines and two different entrances, one for the ninja Cole and one for the evil skeleton Bonezai who is also included with his spinner. There are lots and lots of weapons including 4 gold weapons and character and battles cards for both characters. Check Prices
Cole DX and the Earth Dragon Defence 2509
Each of the ninjas has an elemental dragon that helps them on their quest and in this set is Cole’s Earth Dragon. Unlike the other dragons this is the only one without wings which makes it unique and also a bit sturdier when it comes to playtime. Quite easy to construct as well, which is good for younger Ninjago fans. With this set you can recreate a battle between Cole and the skeleton Wyplash in the Caves of Despair, a location from the main story. There are precious gemstones and the Golden Scythe of Quakes to be fought for. The dragon can spit balls of granite from his mouth, nice! Check Prices
Ninjago Cole ZX Included in 2012 Ninjago Sets
There are lots of exciting new Ninjago sets being released in 2012, all of which are great toys for gifts. Many of them feature one or more of the ninja minifigures. Ninjago Cole is unique in that he appears as the only Ninja in three of the new 2012 sets. Let’s look at them now.
Lego Ninjago Cole ZX and his Tread Assault 9444
In the new 2012 Ninjago story it’s the turn of the ninjas to have some cool vehicles and they don’t come any cooler than Ninjago Cole’s Tread Assault. This Batmanesque car looks the business and is full of great features. Almost makes you feel sorry for the serpent snake Skales, also included, who has no chance of defending the Hypnobrai staff. A rock shooter, ninja blades and the ability to flip the whole vehicle over for a surprise attack makes Cole’s Tread Assault pretty unstoppable and a great set to buy as a gift. Check Prices
Ninjago Kendo Cole ZX included with the Fangpyre Mech 9455
The 2012 Ninjago vehicles are really futuristic. Check out this robot mechinoid thing that the Fangpyre serpent tribe have at their disposal. Not something to be taken lightly with its flick missiles, two massive grabbing claws and poisonous fangs. Just as well Cole has his Kendo gear on! He must top battle against the snake Feng-Suei who sits in the Mech’s cockpit. Whoever wins gets to keep the new look Golden Scythe of Quakes. Have at thee! Check Prices
Cole ZX included with the Fangpyre Wrecking Ball 9457
Last up we have what must be the most bizarre vehicle of Ninjago 2012, the Fangpyre Wrecking Ball, but it certainly looks great and would make a really fun gift for that special someone. It’s a credit to Lego that they have managed to give a wrecking ball vehicle such a cool snake look. It also has a scorpion feel about it thanks to its tail which has a vicious looking sting at its tip. A great Ninjago toy for the destruction lover in your family. Check Prices
