Lego Ninjago Jay DX and ZX

So you know a certain someone who’s crazy for Ninjago Lego and you want to find them a gift, but where to start? Well does he/she have a favourite Ninjago character? If so you could consider a Ninjago minfigure, either as a standalone spinner or as part of a Lego set. Here we’re going to take a look at Lego Ninjago Jay in his DX and ZX versions. Jay is the blue ninja of lightning and he’s super quick, in fact as quick as lightening. Ninjago Jay Story

In the story of Ninjago Jay is one of the four Ninjas who, along with Kai, Cole and Zane, do battle against the evil forces of Lord Garmadon. If you want to know more about the back story then you can read more here. For now all you need to know is that Jay was the first of the Ninjas to practice the art of Spinjitzu, the spinning battle top Lego game, and he has strong feelings for Kai’s, the Red Ninja of Fire, sister Nya. Ninjago Jay and Nya continue to be a bit of an item throughout bother the Ninjago 2011 and 2012 storylines.

Ninjago Jay Spinner Included in the LEGO Ninjago Spinjitzu Starter Set 2257

The simplest and most cost effective way to get hold of Ninjago Jay, his spinner and battle cards is to buy the Ninjago Spinjitzu Starter Set 2257. This gives your child everything they need to get started in the Lego spinning top game, Spinjitzu. As well as Jay in his first, Jan 2011, incarnation you also get the evil skeleton Frakjaw and a simple battle arena, so you can start your battles straight away. Basically, if you didn’t know, the game consists of a mini figure, with weapon, on a spinning base being spun against another opponent and the last spinner standing is the winner. Weapons in this starter set include a Silver Katana, a wooden brown staff, a silver troll sword, a long white bone and two golden weapons, a spear and a flail. It is possible to but the original Jay minifigure completely on its own without the spinner but you can get this starter set for just a few dollars more so it’s not really worth it. Check Prices

Ninjago Jay ZX with Armour 9533

2012 sees the start of a new Ninjago story and a whole new batch of Lego sets and mini figures. Ninjago Jay ZX has been given a very state of the art make over and you can buy him on his own for under $10 at the time of writing. Be aware that as time goes by these minifigures become collector’s items and their price goes up. Jay ZX comes three blades to attach to his spinner which isn’t included. Ninjago Jay Original and DX included in 2011 Ninjago Sets

If the boy or girl you’re buying for is a fan of Ninjago Jay there’s a good chance they will already have the Jay mini figures. In which case why not look to buy one of the many great 2011 Ninjago sets that include Jay in his original or DX versions? In some cases you’re getting better value for money when you only spend a few dollars more to get the figure and a Ninjago vehicle or location set. Let’s take a look at them now.

Ninjago Jay and the Turbo Shredder 2263

The Turbo Shredder vehicle is like some evil supped tractor from hell. Driven by the skeleton forces of darkness, in this set its Frakjaw again, Jay will be at his lightening best to defeat his opponent and take the Golden Scythe, one of the four Golden Weapons. Jay and the Lego Ninjago Skull Motorbike

Here’s the Jay mini figure and another scary skeleton vehicle this time driven by the Chopov skeleton figure. And this time you’re battling your foe for possession of the golden Nanchucks. Arm Jay with is black sword and take back the Nanchucks any way you can, but watch out for the motorbike’s ninja swat attack. Check Prices

Ninjago Jay and the Skull Truck

If you thought the Skull Motorbike and Turbo Shredder were tough prepare yourself for the monster Skull Truck. Yes, a monster truck from the bowels of hell is being driven by Lord Garmadon, no less, and his evil henchman Wyplash. Again it’s Jay’s job to rescue the Golden Nanchucks and he has assistance from Zane. He’ll need all the help he can get to avoid the trucks moving jaws and deadly bone fists or else he and Zane will end up in the truck’s two prison cages. Check Prices

Jay DX Spinner in Skeleton Bowling 2519

The amusingly names Ninjago Skeleton Bowling set refers to the six skeleton dummies included in this set which Jay, in his Ninjago ZX version, can practise his Spinjitzu skills. This essentially a training dojo set similar to other sets like the Mountain Shrine for Kai. The set is simple but fun with plenty of weapons attached to the walls for Jay to choose and practise with. Check Prices

Ninjago Jay DX and the Lightening Dragon Battle

This is a very cool Lego set in Tommy’s opinion. During their adventures each Ninja comes across and joins forces with their own elemental dragon. So in this set Jay’s Lightning Dragon is included along with Jay and his spinner. On top of that the two of them can do battle with two skeletons, Frakjaw, who pilots a skeleton helicopter and Kruncha. It doesn’t look good for the skeletons as the Sensei Wu mini figure is also included and with Jay wielding the Golden Nanchuck what chance do they have!? Let the games begin. Check Prices

Lego Ninjago Jay ZX Included in 2012 Ninjago Sets

As mentioned 2012 sees the introduction of a whole new story for our mighty warriors. This time they are up against Lord Garmadon’s son, Lloyd, and his dreaded Snake tribe, The Serpentine. You can get new Jay ZX in four different ways so let’s look at them now.

The Jay ZX Storm Fighter Toy 9442

In 2012 each of the ninja now has their own cool and futuristic vehicles. Here we have Jay in his awesome fighter airplane, off on his mission to bring home the Golden Fangpyre staff and its special strong anti venom to help with the fight ahead. Oh course it won’t be easy, you’ll have to prise the staff from the cold dead hands of Fangpyre character Snappa who’s waiting for you. There are 3 other weapons included and a small shrine to put the Golden staff on. This is a very good value Lego set at around $25. Check Prices

Kendo Jay Lego with Destiny’s Bounty 9446

If you’re looking to give a really top toy in the 2012 Ninjago range then the very impressive Destiny’s Bounty is probably the set for you. This is the only Lego ship set made so far in the Ninjago series and like the previous Fire Temple set it may just be the most popular set of 2012. This is basically the final showdown of the 2012 story. Jay and Zane, in their Kendo outfits, are included as well as Sensei Wu, as they take on the forces of Lloyd Garmadon, Skales and Slithraa in an epic battle to save mankind and get their hands on the golden Hypnobrai staff at the Hypnobrai snake shrine. And what’s better than an awesome dragon ship? A dragon ship that flies with a Kendo Jay toy on board! Enough said. Check Prices

Lego Ninjago Fangpyre Truck Ambush with Jay ZX

Of all the great 2012 Ninjago vehicles I think the Fangpyre Truck is my favourite, and as Tommy has expensive tastes it’s little surprise that this is one of the more costly sets, but worth it in my opinion. What I like is the way this truck really looks like a snake, with its snapping front snake head and long thrashing tale at the back, it’s a great design. Out for Jay’s blood is the Serpentine Fangton and Fangdam, but they’re not going to have everything their own way. Jay is joined by the Zane ZX minifigure and the two of you can escape on Zane’s snowmobile. Golden weapons included are the Shurikens of Ice and the Fangpyre staff. Check Prices
