Ninjago Zane Story
There are four Ninjago Ninjas, Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane. Zane is the White Ninja of Ice and just to make things a little weirder he’s not even human! Ninjago Zane is in fact a robot, or rather android, built by his “father” to protect the weak and vulnerable. Zane is particularly perceptive and always has a sense of what’s about to happen, he’s also the smartest and stealthiest of the ninjas. On the down side, because he’s not human, he hasn’t goy much of a sense of humour, much to the amusement of his friends. So similar to a Lego Spock! Like the other Ninjas, if you want to get hold of the Zane mini figure toy then you can buy him in three different guises, standard Zane released in early January 2011 when the new Ninjago story began, DX Zane and ZX Zane. You can buy Zane on his own or as part of a Ninjago Lego set. So without further ado let’s take a look at what’s available.
Ninjago Zane Spinner Sets
Lego Ninjago Zane 2113 Spinner
This is the Zane minifigure in his original outfit released in Jan 2011. This is a great gift for the Ninjago obsessed. Two newer versions of Zane see below have been released since this one and so Zane 2113 is becoming a bit of a collector’s item. He is therefore more expensive but worth the smile on that special someone’s face! Ninjago Zane 2113 comes complete with his spinner for spinning top Spinjitzu battles, his own character card, four battle cards and three weapons including the Golden Shurikens of Ice. Check Prices
Lego Ninjago Zane DX 2171
In this incarnation, released in March 2011, Zane appears in his DX dragon suit and very cool he looks too. For the time being this version is cheaper to buy at a little over $10 but that could well change as it too becomes a collector’s item. As well as a different look Zane DX also comes with different weapons, this time he has a Golden Flail, long spear and sword. As before Zane’s sinner, character card and battle cards are included. Lego Ninjago Zane ZX
After the success of Ninjago in 2011, 2012 sees a brand new story, with brand new characters and a brand new look for our ninjas. Here’s Ninjago Zane ZX and doesn’t he look sweet! However if you want to get hold of him then you’ll either have to wait for his individual release in the summer of 2012 or get him as part of a Lego set, see below.
Lego Ninjago Kendo Zane 9563
If you can’t wait for Ninjago ZX and want a new look Zane mini figure NOW then Tommy highly recommends the Lego Kendo Zane spinner set. With a fresh looking white and grey spinner, with blades, Zane looks great in his Kendo gear. This time his golden weapon is a Star Hammer as well as a sword and axe. The character card and battle cards have been updated for the 2012 story line. Check Prices
Zane 2113 Included in 2011 Ninjago sets
You don’t have to hunt down the Lego Zane 2113 minifigure and it may make more sense and better value for money, to buy him with any of the three Ninjago Lego sets in which he features. Let’s take a look at them now.
Ninjago Zane and the Skeleton Monster Truck 2506
Tommy particularly likes the Lego Skull Truck, to give it its proper name. An Evil Monster Truck, by any other name, this Ninjago Skeleton vehicle not only contains Zane but also his colleague Jay, the blue ninja of lightening. Together they must take on the villain of the story, Lord Garmadon, and his side kick Wyplash, both included, and try to retrieve the Golden Nanchucks of Lightening while at the same time avoiding the moving jaws of the truck and its deadly firing bone fist! One wrong move and they could end up in the two prison cells on the side of the skull truck…Good Luck! Check Prices
Ninjago Zane and the Fire Temple
No prizes for choosing the largest and most impressive Lego Ninjago set of 2011. The Fire Temple wins hands down with 1180 pieces including lots of Ninjago minifigures, weapons and, of course, the impressive Fire Dragon. This set is, unsurprisingly, the most expensive but defiantly worth every penny and suitable as a child’s main present on birthdays or at Christmas. As well as Ninjago Zane you also get, Ninjago Kai and his sister Nya and the wise old master Sensei Wu. Together with the Fire Dragon they must battle Lord Garmadon, Samukai and Kruncha. Check Prices
Ninjago Zane Training in the Spinjitzu Dojo 2504
Before they could take on the forces of darkness each ninja had to be rigorously trained in the fine arts of Spinjitzu, which is the name of the spinning battle top games that kids can play. To represent this part of their story Lego released a number of training locations where you can put the different ninjas through their paces. The Ninjago Spinjitzu Dojo is the most impressive of these sets and comes with Zane, Sensei Wu and his spinner and the skeleton and General Nuckal figure. This is very much Sensei Wu’s main location and his character cards and battle cards are also included. I like this set with all its deadly obstacle tests attached to the walls and the Golden Shurikens of Ice waiting as a prize. Check Prices
Ninjago Zane DX and the Ice Dragon Attack 2260
If you don’t buy the Zane DX mini figure on its own then you can also get hold of him in Lego set 2260. As the Ninjago story progresses we learn that each of the elemental ninjas are also protected and aided by a dragon of their own. Here the is Zane and his Ice Dragon flying into the underworld to rescue the Shurikens of Ice. Watch out because the crazy skeleton Krazi is hot on your heels! All the Ninjago dragons are very cool and the Ice Dragon is no exception. The dragons are quite intricate so perhaps better suited to the slightly older Ninjago Lego fan. Check Prices
Zane ZX Featured in the New Ninjago Sets 2012
There are three cool new 2012 Ninjago sets that you can buy which include either Zane ZX or Kendo Zane minifigs. Any of these great Ninjago toys would make an excellent gift. Here they are:
Zane ZX and the Venomari Shrine 9440
This small Lego set retails at around just $10 so is a great “value for money” way to get hold of the Zane ZX mini figure. Although only a very small set it’s packed with fun features like a puddle (brick) of toxic slime. Two mini snakes that can be launched at our hero from the shrine and the cool design of the shrine itself, echoing the serpent shape. What also makes this great value and a bit of a collector’s item is that this set is the only one to contain the Venomari Snake Staff, the most important treasure of the new 2012 Ninjago story. Zane ZX in the Fangpyre Truck Ambush 9445
In Tommy’s opinion Zane appears in all the best 2012 Lego sets, here’s another, the brilliantly designed Fangpyre Truck. This grey Serpentine vehicle is shaped just like a snake and looks truly dangerous with its venomous snapping mouth at the front and lethal tail swishing at the back. Zane ZX will also have to combat two serpent foes, Fangton and Fangdam but thankfully he has his own zippy Ice Snowmobile and his friend Jay to help him out. The best 2012 vehicle in Tommy’s opinion. Kendo Zane included in Destiny’s Bounty
And the award for the best Ninjago 2012 set goes to the beautiful flying boat, the Destiny’s Bounty and again the Zane minfig is included, this time in his Kendo armour. This is the only ship to appear in Lego Ninjago so far and it will take a lot to beat it. As well as Ninjago Kendo Zane there are a host of other figures included so that you can stage an epic final confrontation between good and evil. The set contains the ship with its on board cannon and crossbows, a small shrine to display the Hypnobrai Snake Staff, for which you’re all battling, a box for your cannon balls and a map. Along with Zane is his mentor Sensei Wu and Ninjago Jay also in Kendo gear. They must battle against the main villain of 2012 Lloyd Garmadon and two Serpentine baddies Skales and Slithraa.
