All Tommy wants to know is WHERE WAS THIS WHEN I WAS A KID!? The Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar is simply genius and while Tommy loves writing about top toys there are times when he feels a bit envious of kids today!
To be fair this is certainly not the first Lego advent calendar, in fact Lego have been making two distinct advent calendars for some years now, but they certainly weren’t making them when Tommy was a boy back in the long, long ago! One advent calendar is always Christmassy while the other is themed. If you prefer something with a bit more festive spirit then please read Tommy’s Lego City Advent Calendar 2011 review. However if you’re Lego mad and Star Wars crazy then go no further, this is the “pre Christmas” Christmas toy to end all others!
The success of the Lego advent calendars is due to the simple fact that Lego’s popularity just never wanes, year on year new toys spring up and then fade away, but Lego just keeps on rolling. The Lego Star Wars Advent calendar works on two levels. Firstly it really cranks up the excitement of Christmas! Ordinary advent calendars are exciting enough for a small child but give them one with proper themed toys that they can play with and add to day on day and well …kiddie heaven!
Secondly these Lego pieces aren’t just for Christmas. You buy this because your children love Lego and each piece just gets added to their other Lego sets to be played with again and again, month after month. Not only did I miss out on these as a kid but my daughter is still too young for them, the Lego advent calendars are suitable for children over three. I hope Lego continue with these calendars for many years to come…Merry Christmas!
