The New Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Power Wheels Ride On Car

The New Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Power Wheels Ride On CarFeeling generous? Are you one for extravagant gifts? If you really want to blow your little toddlers mind then why not get them their own car! And not just any car but the car that all kids want…Lightning McQueen from the Disney Cars movies! Yes, the Lighting McQueen Power Wheels car is the real deal, with its 6 volt rechargeable battery powering the car to 3.5 miles per hour, with two forward speeds and reverse. Safe, fun and, above all, very cool for kids.

OK, this isn’t the cheapest of birthday or Christmas toys but Tommy can guarantee you there wasn’t anything like this at just $200 when he was a kid. Your own car at three years old!? The worlds gone mad and Tommy loves it! First there was Cars and then there was the equally successful Cars 2, would you bet against a hugely successful Cars 3? No, I didn’t think so. Lightning McQueen is going to be a big favourite for quite some time to come and surely there is no greater homage to this Disney character than a toy version that actually drives under its own power.

Power Wheels Anniversary

Of course this isn’t the first Power Wheels battery powered vehicle, in fact this year (2011) is the 25th Anniversary celebration of this famous range of toy vehicles. Nevertheless as far as Tommy is aware (correct me if I’m wrong) this is the first of their cars for kids that takes its inspiration from a movie. I’m not a big fan of the Disney/Pixar Cars movies but kids are bananas for them and any toddler driving around in a Lightning McQueen Hot Wheels toy car is simply going to be the coolest kid on the block…period. That’s why Tommy has added it to his Top 10 Toys For Boys 2011 list. Visit our boys section to find more of the best toys for boys.

Lightning McQueen Ride On

Here‘s what you get.

A car that has three speed settings – two forward and one reverse.

A car that speaks phrases from the movie and makes race car sounds.

A car that has been thoroughly tested for safety and has an automatic braking system – braking immediately when your child takes their foot of the accelerator.

A car that has been designed for your child’s comfort – with smooth contours and rounded edges inside the vehicle.

And finally a car that looks just like the real thing on the outside – with racing decals, side mounted dual exhaust and a cool rear spoiler.

And here’s what you need to know.

Don’t let your child know you have this for them until you have assembled the car and, more importantly, charged the battery for the first time, which takes 18 hours! As soon as they see this car they’re going to want to drive it, so make sure they can. On a similar note driving this in the rain or on sandy/earthy ground isn’t the best idea as water and debris won’t do the car any good. Stick to tarmac, pavements and grass.
