9579 Starter Set Review

The Lego Ninjago spinners game is a cross between a battle tops game, think Beyblades, and a Top Trumps type card game, and a new twist to the traditional types of Lego sets. To play you attach a Ninjago mini figure onto a spinner, arm him with a weapon and spin him towards another opponents character and spinner. Whoever stays upright is the winner. The battle cards are played before the battle commences and are used to give a player an advantage over his opponent, like more weapons, better weapons, shields or spinner modifications. The game is fun enough but of course, as you’ll remember, part of the fun of these spinners and their cards is in the collecting. All in all it’s a well thought-out set and, in my opinion, one of the best toys in the Ninjago range.

Ninjago Starter Set Toys

The Lego Ninjago Starter Set 9579 starter set comes with two characters Ninjago Kai ZX (the ZX refers to the version of this minifigure with ZX being the most recent 2012 version) and the slippery foe Rattla, a member of the Hybnobrai snake tribe. Each comes with its own special character card and four battle cards. They also each have a selection of weapons, with one gold weapon each. Kai has his Golden Tri Scythe, as well as an axe and a Katana sword, while Rattla has his Golden Dark Blade, as well as the evil Hypno Viper staff and his very special Staff of Control. Evil he maybe but he sure has the better weapons!

Ninjago Starter Pack Spinners

Both characters have their own very cool and colourful spinners, Kai’s in gold and green and Rattla’s in purple and yellow, three small Lego pieces that help you attach the minifigs to the spinners, and a simple battle arena in which to hold your bouts.
